I am 10/10. I have my spark back. Every day I get lost in the state of flow: moving fast, taking names, building things I care about. Taking a building year was the best decision I've ever made.
Who am I again? I am Brett Bejcek. I live by my top values of Exploration, Iteration, and Connection. Exploration is what I do; I do it through iteration; and I do it to create more connection. I am prioritizing physical health, building community, and cultivating creativity.
Fun Metrics. A peek into my life: some tied to goals, others just for fun. Because I’m not a business, I’m a silly human. And silly humans sometimes spend 30 minutes comparing pastries consumed instead of finishing their to-do list.

What’s top of mind?
Focus. When there are infinite possibilities and I can move faster than ever, I feel even more belief that I can have it all. I can't. And I think that's actually the central tension of building with AI right now: instead of moving 50 things forward an inch during a day, what if you could do what used to take a year with one thing? Decisiveness matters more than ever. I tend to get excited by everything and sometimes use the guise of exploration as an excuse for not making a decision. Working on it.
Fun lil’ memories

Highlights of February:
- Building: I challenged myself to build ~2 things a week this month (big or small) and shipped 8 projects. Proudest of my sewing bag and hodgepodge.club, a little check-in ritual with friends.
- Dancing: Saad and Kirby have been my dance crew. We took a class, then danced in Saad's empty apartment. I feel lucky to have people I can be a total goober with; it gives me hope that at 70 I'll still be the same goober I am now, that getting older doesn't mean losing that spark.
- Working out: Probably the best thing I've done in my gap year so far is joining my gym. I'm here every day, building community and getting stronger. Such a stark contrast from the silliness of one-off fitness classes. If you want to co-work from Chelsea Piers sometime, let me know.
Lowlight of February:
- The macro landscape feels beyond hope to me right now. I don't think I'm the person who's going to fix it, and I've stopped pretending I might be. But I'm finding hope on the micro level: friends showing up for one another, a stranger holding the subway door, helping someone unbox moving boxes on a Saturday. That's the stuff that gives me hope.

On the first of every month I do a little self-audit and put it out into the world. Why? Accountability, reflection, and because life’s more fun when you share the messy middle.
