Hello; Happy August!
Who am I again? I am Brett Bejcek. I live by my top values of Exploration, Iteration, and Connection. Exploration is what I do; I do it through iteration; and I do it to create more connection. These days, I spend a lot of time working on a startup, Limitless. It is my main priority. Outside of work, I am prioritizing physical health, (re)building community, and cultivating creativity through interesting weekend projects.
Fun Metrics. A peek into my life: some tied to goals, others just for fun. Because I’m not a business, I’m a silly human. And silly humans sometimes spend 30 minutes comparing pastries consumed instead of finishing their to-do list. It’s called balance.

Fun lil’ memories

Highlight of August:
- Dancing in the streets: Post-race, I ended up zumba-ing down the street with a stranger leading the charge. Sweaty, silly, and so alive. Sometimes the best kind of win isn’t about the clock, it’s about moving just because it feels good. Although I did get a 25min on my 5k, can I get a what what.
- Strength in motion: August was a month of motion; more workouts, more steps, more energy. It felt like my body finally caught up with my brain, and that momentum carried me through the rest of the month.
- Community rebuild: From team dinners to friend celebrations, August felt like plugging back into the grid. Connection didn’t come from a grand plan: it was pieced together over meals, laughter, and being in the room together.
Lowlight of August:
- AI ate my creativity a bit: I leaned a little too hard on AI this month: offloading ideas and strategy instead of sitting in the mess myself. It pushed me into execution mode, when what I actually needed was the spark of making. There’s beauty in the tension between creation mode and execution mode. I want to find that beauty again.
How did I do on my goals last month?
Not great - just keeping the lights on with continue going strong. I am resetting my expectations around these goals for the phase of life I am in right now. Just winning at continue is enough.
August Goals
Stop | Start | Continue |
Saying yes to things that do not fuel me ❌ | Baby steps to rebuild creativity (make submitting a memory more prominent on my website, add a way to easily add me on Apple Watch, etc) ❌ | Work as top priority ✅ |
ㅤ | Scheduling low-stakes creative time (20 min to write, doodle, whatever) ❌ | Working out ✅ |
ㅤ | ㅤ | Investing in community ✅ |
ㅤ | ㅤ | Take better advantage of living in NYC (more shows + events) ✅ |
ㅤ | ㅤ | Seeking nature ✅ |
What am I prioritizing for this month?
September Goals
Stop | Start | Continue |
Overcommitting to goals (a bit meta, but I am just not in a place where I can take on much more right now) | Being okay that there is nothing new you have capacity for right now (again, a bit meta, but I just need to stabilize) | Work as top priority |

Thanks for following along.
With love,
Brett Bejcek
On the first of every month I do a little self-audit and put it out into the world. Why? Accountability, reflection, and because life’s more fun when you share the messy middle.
