Hello there!
May was a month for friends and adventures. If I zoom out just a few months, the contrast is wild: I’ve probably 10x’ed the number of people I’ve seen, the things I’ve done, the spontaneity I’ve let in. That part feels good. It’s clear I’ve opened up more, and I’m proud of that. I’ve been doing things that fuel my soul; experiences that make me feel alive.
But if I’m honest, there’s still an undercurrent of something missing. Most of my hangs are 1:1, which means little overlap between circles and not many moments that build momentum together. It’s a lot of meaningful fragments, but not much thread. Instead of community, it can sometimes feel like motion: jumping from one great thing to the next without a deeper sense of cohesion. The moments are real, but they don’t always stack.
Community, for me, isn’t just presence. It’s pattern. It’s shared context, consistency, and something that makes it feel like we’re building toward something together. Right now, I’m still stitching that together, slowly, one interaction at a time. But I’m wondering what it would take to upgrade from hand stitching to a sewing machine. What would a more sustained, intentional version of this look like?
If you’ve figured that out or want to explore it together, please reach out. I’m all ears 🙂
Who am I again? I am Brett Bejcek. I live by my top values of Exploration, Iteration, and Connection. Exploration is what I do; I do it through iteration; and I do it to create more connection. These days, I spend a lot of time working on a startup, Limitless. It is my main priority. Outside of work, I am prioritizing physical health, (re)building community, and cultivating creativity through interesting weekend projects.
Fun Metrics. A peek into my life: some tied to goals, others just for fun. Because I’m not a business, I’m a silly human.

Fun lil’ memories:

Highlights of May:
- 30 Club Inductions: Welcomed three friends into the 30s club this month. Personally, I soft-launched 30 when I was 29 just to test the waters. Aside from some light back pain and occasional groaning when standing up, it’s been a surprisingly great decade. More introspection, less FOMO. Fewer late nights, more foam rollers.
- Roller Coaster Recon: I’ve decided more coasters this yeaer. Full send. I hit a few in May at Cedar Point with my sister, and El Toro at Six Flags NJ is next on my list. Fun fact: being 6’8” turns roller coasters into covert ops. There’s a height limit for a lot of them! I have to slouch in line and time my entrance for when the staff looks away. It’s a delicate dance of deception…but that first drop? Worth every vertebra I compress.
- La Profe Eterna: Reconnected with my high school Spanish teacher this month. Somehow she still looks exactly the same, laughs exactly the same, and shows love in a way that feels like a warm hug in every sentence. If I end up with half her energy and triple her age lines, I’ll consider it a huge win. Honestly, she’s my new north star for aging: joyful, generous, and basically immortal.
Lowlights of May:
- Blurring: There were a couple of marathon weeks that blurred right past me and I don’t want to be a blur. I kept saying yes to everything, which meant I wasn’t really saying yes to the stuff that actually matters. It’s that classic trap of trying to be available to everyone and ending up barely present for myself. Rest isn’t the reward, it’s the requirement. June me will try to remember that.
How did I do on my goals last month?
Mixed bag. I leaned into social plans, but they didn’t always translate to community. I let urgency sneak back in and crowd out rest. And my creativity? Still hanging out in the waiting room. On the other hand, I crushed my continue section. Honestly, I’m okay with that. Big shifts don’t happen overnight. Some months are for planting, not harvesting. I showed up, I learned, and I’m carrying that forward.
May Goals
Stop | Start | Continue |
❌ Saying yes to social plans that don’t excite you just to stay “active” | ❌ Baby steps to rebuild creativity (make submitting a memory more prominent on my website, add a way to easily add me on Apple Watch, etc) | ✅ Work as top priority |
❌ Letting urgency override rest (not every spark needs a fire) | ㅤ | ✅ Working out |
ㅤ | ㅤ | ✅ Investing in community |
ㅤ | ㅤ | ✅ Take better advantage of living in NYC (more shows + events) |
What am I prioritizing for this month?
June Goals
Stop | Start | Continue |
Sacrificing your sleep | Baby steps to rebuild creativity (make submitting a memory more prominent on my website, add a way to easily add me on Apple Watch, etc) | Work as top priority |
ㅤ | Host or find one overlap event amongst friends | Working out |
ㅤ | Scheduling low-stakes creative time (20 min to write, doodle, whatever) | Investing in community |

That’s all. Thanks for being part of my journey.
With love,

On the first of every month I do a little self-audit and put it out into the world. Why? Accountability, reflection, and because life’s more fun when you share the messy middle.
