Can I get a 🙌 woop woop 🙌? We made it through January! Candidly, I think it is my least favorite month of the year: it’s cold, my gym gets insanely crowded due to the New Years resolutions crowd, and the sun sets at 4:30pm which feels borderline illegal. Even with the awfulness of JanEWWWary, there’s still a lot to be grateful for and I did have some pretty spectacular highlights for the first month of the year.
Who am I again? I am Brett Bejcek. I live by my top values of Exploration, Iteration, and Connection. Exploration is what I do; I do it through iteration; and I do it to create more connection. These days, I spend a lot of time working on a startup, Limitless. It is my main priority. Outside of work, I am prioritizing physical health, (re)building community, and cultivating creativity through interesting weekend projects.
An ask for you. What’s your favorite ice breaker? I want to create a bank of ice breaker activities + questions. Drop me a line at [email protected]
Fun Metrics. The goal of these metrics is to give you insight into my life. Normally from a business perspective, I tie all goals to metrics…but I am not a business, I am a silly human. Some of these are tied to goals, others are just a glimpse in my life. 🙂

Highlights of January:
- Getting caught in the snow. There’s something about getting caught in a freak snow storm that feels incredible - perhaps it’s the surprise coupled with the innate child-like response of frolicking and play. Also it had me questioning if I should dye my hair white; I don’t hate it.
- Shipping some side projects. I am testing out some agentic browser behavior to meet my goal of winning something in 2025 - honestly, I would settle for an essential oils giveaway package. It felt nice to dedicate some weekend time to learning a new skillset to achieve some goals.
- Spending time with coworkers at our quarterly retreat. I love the people I work with - they are some of the most empathetic souls I have ever encountered and I am very lucky to get to spend so much time with them.
Lowlights of January:
- I was sick for half of the month. Whenever I seem to get into a groove of career health, physical health, social health, and emotional health, I get sick and it throws everything off. I am going to get a full preventative MRI later this year to understand if there is an underlying issue.
- I had my first negative experience with a side project. I gave myself 2 hours on a weekend to solve a problem for myself: remembering to use my Bilt credit card so I didn’t lose points and launched it. I had a simple recurring low charge every week (~$0.50) with Stripe that users could sign up for. I am proud of scrappiness and simplicity, but am disappointed it didn’t align with my values of providing REAL value to users. At least it only took 2 hours to learn thanks to my resourcefulness and decisiveness which I feel are getting better every day.
- My community isn’t as strong as I would like it to be. I have pockets of friends, but it is fragmented and lacking regularly scheduled programming (time + place) to catch up. In the past, this was often a dinner party someone would put on or an art night. I would like to move from 1:1 hang outs to 1:many hangouts in the coming months. I need to invest more time here.
How did I do on my goals last month?
Not to toot my own horn, I think I did pretty fantastic. All in all, I would give myself a check-minus. What’s holding me back from a check or even the ultra rare check-plus? Volunteering. I wish I would’ve gotten in some volunteer hours this month.

And that’s all. Thanks for being part of my journey.
With love,

On the first of every month I do a little self-audit and put it out into the world. Why? Accountability, reflection, and because life’s more fun when you share the messy middle.
